Oh history, how thou dost slap man with the repetition of shame

“History is a gallery of pictures in which there are few originals and many copies”

-Alexis de Tocqueville

It is incredible that a man from the 1800s could make such amazing claims and be so on point into the future reality of America. [If you are one who knows the works of Tocqueville, you know exactly what I speak of. If not, get to know.] What is more astonishing is how we, the present, tend to have such a flighty memory incapable of remembering the cautionary words of our predecessors.

I tend to look back at history not as such, but rather as the predictions of our very future. For you see history always repeats itself, maybe not to the ‘t’ but damn close. So why is it that with all the ruckus presently going on, people are always shocked to discover the atrocities of Wall Street, of politicians, of our government?

I guess it must truly be Pure Lunacy to thus be a person who thoroughly recognizes reality in all its gore and hopelessness, but consciously decides to dream, have hope, and push for utopian ideals.

Are you a lunatic?
